Update – August 11

August 11, 2006 3:16 pm

We made it home from camp without too much difficulty. We had to do a minor repair along the way. Thankfully we had already stopped for the day and had a hotel room when we discovered the problem. The hotel graciously let us stay a couple of extra hours before checking out the next day to complete the work.

Today I went to visit a deaf man. I had visited earlier, but did not catch him at home. His dad was home though, and I had a good conversation with him. The father was very excited to know that there was someone teaching the Bible to the Deaf. Today I met Guillermo and his mother. Guillermo is a man that has been saved several years and is hungry to learn more about God’s Word. We look forward to having him and his mother in church with us Sunday.

Update – July 31

July 31, 2006 7:49 am

Camp went very well. Thank you for praying. We had 85 campers and 5 salvations during the week. God really blessed with giving us just the teachers and preachers we needed.

We are still on the road and will be home by the end of the week.

Update – July 24

July 24, 2006 3:06 am

Camp starts today. We are expecting close to 100 campers from many different parts of México. We even have a new group this year from Ciudad Juárez (near El Paso). That is a very long way from camp. They rode 21 hours on bus to be here.

Pray for others as they travel. The camp will start today (Monday) and end Saturday morning. We are praying for unsaved to be with us and that many life changing decisions will be made.

July Prayer Letter

  • Deaf and Hearing Saved
  • Camp preparation
  • Greens arrival

Dear Friends,
Since our last letter we have been able to see three more Deaf and one hearing lady accept the Lord. The three Deaf are teachers at the Deaf School. The mother of one of the teens that attends the deaf group invited all of the teachers to their house for dinner. This was in honor of Teacher’s Day here in México. The purpose of this was evangelistic from the start. She had asked me to share the Gospel with the teachers that night. Just three teachers came, but…

Update – June 21

June 21, 2006 10:08 pm

We are getting ready for camp which will be coming up in a month. But before that happens things will be very busy. I want to thank those who have helped with the financial needs in getting our truck ready to make the trip as well as helping with the cost of camp. Pray that the rest of the funds will arrive as needed and as God has planned.

Steph and the children will be taking a trip back to the US to go to a family reunion. They will be able to see Steph’s brother and sister. They have not all been together since 2001. Leyla and Stephanie will return just before we start the trip to camp. James will stay a couple more weeks with my parents in Pensacola, Florida.

The Green family has arrived and found a house. When we finish up the paperwork on that, they will start moving. The house is close enough to ours that the kids will be able to walk over to visit. But far enough away that we won’t be in each other’s hair, not that Bill or I have much.

Horacio doing well

May 30, 2006 2:10 pm

I got a message from Horacio’s wife today telling me that he was at home and doing well. Recovery will still take time of course. Please continue to pray. Praise the Lord that the church does have other good men who can step in and help Bro. Horacio with his duties as pastor.

Prayer Request – Horacio II

May 24, 2006 10:09 pm

I had mentioned about three weeks ago that one of our Deaf pastors in Mexico had a heart attack. He has had angioplasty and will be undergoing another procedure on Thursday (May 25). Please continue to pray for Horacio.

The doctors are not giving any firm numbers, but feel that his heart damage may be upwards of 25% after this is over. That is a considerable amount.

I will post more news as I get it.

Four Saved Last Night

May 18, 2006 6:32 am

In Mexico this week we had celebrations honoring teachers. The parents of Israel, who attend another good church here in town, invited all of the teachers from the Deaf school to their house after our Bible study last night. In this time they planned supper for them and a short time to honor the teachers. But central to all of this, was a presentation of the Gospel.

We had three teachers from the school as well as some of the parents of our Deaf. I presented the Gospel at which time all the teachers (all deaf) and one parent (hearing) accepted the Lord! The hearing parent is the mother of AnaIsabel who was saved just a few weeks ago.

This is what our ministry is about. Because of the prayers of you, our supporters, we are able to accomplish this task.
